This website was originally produced for a project called ‘Trees of Our Future’, which ran in Northern Ireland between 2001 and 2004.

The site was written by the project co-ordinator, Andy Smith, in his spare time, based on his experience of working in the Tree Nursery at The Conservation Volunteers in Northern Ireland. Andy also redesigned the website for TCV as part of a campaign.

TCV and Andy wanted to share their knowledge with you. These pages are here to help you grow and identify trees and shrubs found throughout the UK, Ireland and parts of Europe.

The project was originally supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (formerly the Northern Ireland Environment Agency).
